Search for Copies of Photos
I uploaded two different media to both search engines – Black Midi’s Schlagenheim album cover and Over the Garden Wall TV show screenshot. The results were fairly similar. You could find the names of these media using both search engines.
While Yandex showed the exact names of Album and TV show using its built-in AI feature, lenso.ai had a bigger range of results for the Album (around 300 copies of the cover found online). The number of results for the TV show was similar for both.

Best purpose for lenso.ai: Finding more copies of the photo online. Great when looking for stolen photos or art.
Best purpose for Yandex: Finding the name of the show and some information quickly.
Similar/Related Images
They both searched for similar pictures as well. Here, Yandex found more closely related results, while Lenso went wider, finding art that looks alike, but isn’t directly related to source material.

Best purpose for lenso.ai: Looking for art inspiration and similar “vibe” of a photo.
Best purpose for Yandex: Finding more screenshots from the show, looking for related images.
Search for Animals and Plants
For this one, I tried to search for unpopular dog breeds. I stumbled upon Bedlington Terrier. It’s a peculiar-looking pup, similar to a few dog breeds, but distinct enough for both engines to find it.
Once again, they both had success in discovering the exact breed. You could find its name clicking on some sites lenso found, as well as get it from Yandex’s search.
Lenso also had some success finding similar-looking breeds in its Similar category, which Yandex didn’t offer. Lenso.ai also found a few more duplicates of the image.

I have also noticed Lenso is better at finding more niche results, while Yandex can search on pages like YouTube or Tumblr, which can be a motivation for some.
Best purpose for lenso.ai: Identical copies of the image, less popular sites, looking for similar breeds.
Best purpose for Yandex: Finding the name of the breed and social media posts or videos on the topic.
Search for People/Faces
First, I checked someone fairly popular, but not too well-known. Phil Elverum known from The Microphones. Both engines found him.
Lenso.ai found 26 pages of results - about 2500 photos of his face. They were both duplicates of that photo and different facial expressions, ages etc. Yandex also detected his name, but didn’t find nearly as many pictures of him. Mostly duplicates of the photo I uploaded.

Then, I conducted another check with someone less popular. I picked a random character from a niche Polish TV Show.
Lenso.ai found many photos of the same woman, while Yandex found similar women, but in different pictures.

This is actually a huge achievement for lenso – Yandex has great search abilities, but Lenso.ai managed to perform way better in facial recognition. Lenso can also find similar women like Yandex does.
Best purpose for lenso.ai: Finding less popular people, private investigations, finding yourself online.
Best purpose for Yandex: Quick search for the name of a famous person.

Reverse Image Search Tools 2026: Which One Actually Fits Your Search
"Reverse image search" sounds like a single category of tool, but it isn't. A search built to find a person's face works nothing like one built to prove where a photo first appeared, and neither works like the one most people already use out of habit. Picking the wrong tool for the job is the most common reason a search comes back empty. Here's how nine of the strongest options in 2026 split by function, so you can start with the right one instead of working through all of them.

8 Best Reverse Image Search Tools in 2026
You screenshot a profile picture that feels off, or you stumble on a product photo you'd swear you've seen somewhere else. The fastest way to settle it isn't typing a guess into a search bar — it's uploading the image itself. Reverse image search does exactly that: it turns a photo into the query and hands back matching pages, similar images, and sometimes the people or places in the frame. The tools that do this well have multiplied fast, and they're no longer interchangeable. Below is a ranked look at the eight worth knowing in 2026, starting with the one built specifically around AI-driven visual matching.
